Teaching the next generation of Medics - Pre-Medicine Taster Course

Getting into Medical School can be hard ... and many people who go for it don't even know if they really want to be doctors.

The Pre-Med Taster Course run by The Clinical Exchange has 2 aims:

Prof Mark Whiteley, Mr Barrie Price, MIss Sovra Whitcroft and Dr Tony Lopez
are amongst the specialists teaching on the Pre-Med Taster course

  1. To help those who think they might be interested in a career in Medicine to decide whether it is the right career for them
  2. To help those who want to get into medical school to get their application as good as possible.
The course has lectures and practical skills to enable delegates to get a feel for medicine and to give them something to talk and write about. Mock medical school interviews in the final week help those who want to apply to medical school to get ready for their interview.

For the very keen, additional opportunities for school or university projects or even original research projects through Professor Mark Whiteley are available as a follow-on from the course.

The Clinical Exchange - A place to teach local anasethetic interventions, surgery and laser procedures

The Clinical Exchange is an ideal facility to show off new aesthetic and surgical instruments and techniques - including lasers, injections and local anaesthetic techniques.

Located in a CQC registered medical facility (The Whiteley Clinic) The Clinical Exchange can seat up to 48 with a live link to the local anaestheic operating theatre (laser approved), a clinical treatment room (laser approved) and the diagnostic and therapeutic duplex ultrasound room - all in the same building and easily accessible to all delegates.

Each room can have 2 HD remote cameras to show every part of the procedure being demonstrated or taught. A 2 way audio link allows delegates to question the demonstrating clinician throughout the treatment.

For those who want to demonstrate their techniques or products widely, The Clinical Exchange also allows live procedures and techniques to be broadcast via the Internet or other data transfer techniques to remote locations.

Finally, the The Clinical Exchange can also make DVD's and YouTube videos to help promote techniques, equipment or practices.

GP minor surgery course at The Clinical Exchange

We have just finished running our first GP Minor Surgery course at The Clinical Exchange.

Situated above The Whiteley Clinic operating theatres, we have a video link allowing real time observation of local anaesthetic or laser procedures by up to 48 delegates.

The audio visual link allows the delegates to ask questions of the surgeon and patient during the procedure to enable the very best teaching and learning environment.

The Clinical Exchange runs a series of clinical courses throughout the year and leases out its premises for companies or individuals that want to run courses or promote their products with live demonstrations.
